Maggie Sim has been a part of the Thistle and Heather Highland Dancers for ten years. A premier level dancer, she competes in competitions across the Midwest. Maggie fell in love with dancing when she was five years old after attending the Oakbrook Polo Grounds Highland Games and watching the highland dancers from the front row. Since joining the Highland Dancers, she has built friendships with dancers from California to Canada, and has enjoyed watching and mentoring younger primary and beginning dancers. "There’s a particular joy in going to dance class and having a primary run up and hug you, then proceed to tell you about what they did today. Or seeing them watch you dance and try to do the same steps as you that they haven’t learned quite yet. It always puts a smile on my face because it seems like it was not too long ago that I was one of those primary dancers who admired the premiers and wanted to be just like them." Maggie attends Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn Illinois and plans to continue dancing beyond graduation.
